Thunder storm brewing over Yellowknife

Been busy with other things the past few days and fogot about this place almost. I hit the pool tonight for the first time in months and the hot tub was great. The pool with endless hot water showers and a steam room and the hot tub. Great place to send a cool evening. I finished at the pool and thought I may as well do the airport ride since I am half way there. I took off as the sky began to darken and there was a rainbow ending under the mass of pitck black cloud, so far no thunder and lighting, the winds are on the rise and sometime while I lay sleeping I think it will hose down.

The Trans Canada trail site ha been down since Thursday and that means I am 50,000 unlogged steps closer to the finish. Pretty soon I will cross the border into Saskatchewan and be on province number 3 since the walk began. I have e-mailed them and they are now aware of the problem and have unleashed the tech hounds to repair it. The folks at the site office are very helpful and responsive whenever I contact them.

Just for fun ,more knot stuff. There are 3 steps to tying a knot properly, 4 if you count selecting the right knot for the job. The first step  is to tie the knot the second, dress the knot and lastly set the knot. Dressing the knot is a checking of the knot to be sure everything is where it is supposed to be with no crossed strands or other funny things. Dressing the knot is your chance to correct any litte errors and to tidy it all up ship shape, setting the knot refers to tightening everything into place and snugging everything home. This helps prevent any little slipages when the load is taken up and pretty much makes sure that you have tied it right.

The main purpose of any knot is pretty simple , they should be easy to tie, hold well and untie easily. Some knots do this much better than others. Foe example if you were to tie an overhand loop into a line and pull it really tight you will have to cut the cut out more than likely, had you used a bowline the knot would be easily untied after unloading. Easily would be relative to how tight you had winched the knot (happens on sailboats) regardless with a bit more effort the bowline would be untied where the overhand loop would be a cut out.
