Another cooking day in the knife+25C

That is way above our average day in the knife for this time of year and it was great. most of us were of course wilting and doing our best to enjoy the day. I am re-arranging my walking schedule for the cool walking time in the dawn hours and I may ride then to. I am required now to spend as much time as possible out of the noon Day sun which is unfortuante as I make a pretty good "Mad dog and Englishmen."

I was out paddling the lake in my white water boat and our little dock needs some serious attention. Mark and I have come up with a plan that will fix it making it safe to walk on and easy to access once again. Looking forward to being able to use it again without fear of stepping through it.

The heat has cut back on the trail walking as I seem to fade as it cools off during the eening. I did get 10 klicks in on he bike however and 4,500 steps so all is not lost. The paddling was pretty slack, more of a directional controlled float but fun.

Tomorrow is another day and I did get some offical business done which is also a neccessary chore.

Trying to decide if I can afford to go to FT.Smith for the instructor courses or If I should paddle on the big lake for part of August which is much cheaper. Should have thought of it eariler and I could paddle to Ft.Smith from here. Paddle to the Simpson Islands cross over to the south shore through the islands and paddle to Ft. Resolution and then paddle up the Slave river to Smith.

Time is running out to decide this stuff and I really want to buy a drysuit which is not cheap no matter which way I go. Small Lotto 649 would be handy about now I would take a big win, but would be just as happy with a small one. I even bought a ticket which produced a freeplay win and I really have a 1 to 20 million chance, so I am holding my breath. Cheers, Greg

Farmer John MIA

I some how have managed to lose my Farmer John wetsuit, or I have stored it so well I can't find it. With the summer we are having it is a very handy thing to have around. I still have my shorty suit and my scuba Farmer John but that is a bit thick being 6mm of neoprene. I am wondering if perhaps some wondering pouch has wandered off with it as a new play thing. I will continue to look but I have turned my place inside out and still nothing. Seems my neoprene socks are travelling with the wetsuit as well. No one in their right mind would steel a pair of old Neoprene socks but dogs think differently than us.

Today I had big plans but lost interest after the bike ride, I did take the Bungle canoe out to try the wind paddle sail in a canoe and of course the wind dropped. I paddled and floated around for awhile and then headed home. Floating in a canoe is better than sitting on shore but I should have gone in a kayak as I would have done more. I need to spend some time in a canoe to inprove my canoe paddling skills but my j-stroke is getting much better. Canoes and back to not agree and so my time in them is limited.

Today was the second really warm day in a row in Yellowknife about the third time this has happed since spring. I need to get my walk in in the morning before it wams up. I wear lots of clothing to keep me out of the sun and I think just avoiding the hotest part of the day makes more sense. I want to continue the walk and bike ride and paddle every day if I can. I will probably start X-country skiing again this wintr. I used to go alot and then it just seemed to no longer interst me. Would love to live closer to the mountains and take up para-gliding again.

No distance was made on the Virtual walk or nothing worth recording anyway.

I  have an upcoming trip this September and need to think about how I want to go about that.

This week its taxes and books for the PFPA and then my chores are done except for the shack roof repair. Life is grand and I certainly never seemed to get bored. Cheers, Greg
