Welcome to my Blog, enjoy your stay!
Time flies and midnight rolled right by and I never noticed at all. I managed to get in a 90 minute paddle and sail on Yellowknife bay and Back bay very nice. I ran into my neighbour Walter who was test sailing is new sailing skiff. I needed sunglasses to protect my eyes from his smile and so I would say the investment was a success.
The celebration of Life for Finn was still going strong when I returned to have a quick check. I talked with Kelly, Finns daughter annd she was more than pleased with the turn out and this pleases me greatly. Finn always treated me very well as did Kellys mother Wendy. Kelly and her husband Fred have also spoiled me at times and I consider them very good friends and fine folk all round.
I would have to consider yesterday well spend in sunshine and warmth amongst good company. I am a solo kayakist by nature and when paddling alone my favoured yak "Sploosh" is also fine company and we spend our hours together usually ithout any complaints from either side. "Sploosh" as conscented to carry me for thousands of kilometers of paddling and after the first dunking has treated me well.
Today I will send for the Trans Canada trail meter for Finn and when the Certificate arrives I will see that Fred and Kelly and Wendy as well get their copy. The orguinal will go on the honour wall at Harleys Shirt Shack just above the Saloon as the Saloon walls are pretty full of pictures of our friends in various activities most of which include Harley-Davidson motorcycles, camping, fishing and paddling. We are basically outdoor orientated folks. There are a few of us at work but we try to limit those.
I have almost made Stockholm and the end of leg 9 anmd am 55 miles ahead of my friend Max. Sailing is funny and Max has a way of slipping past at the very last moment, I need to be paying attention to my boat and so will leave this for now. Cheers, Greg
I checked the boat and the latest wind update had me stalled, good thing I checked as I am now once again making 8 knots per hour in the right direction. This puts me about 12 hours out but I am sailing into stronger winds and should be able to increase my speed.
