Welcome to my Blog, enjoy your stay!
I wasn't sure what was happening, over the past few days this blog was taking over a minute to load and there were other problems as well. There is a tab that allows you to change the layout to a style you may prefer reading and this had stopped working. The page that was popping up was not the lay out that I use and would not change back. What ever it was it is gone now and the page loads fine , I would tempt fate by trying to change the layout as I like this one as it is.
Saturday was Mine Rescue Competion day and I worked with CERTNWT to help set-up, manage and judge the First Aid scenario. This is the sixth or seventh year that CERT has done this and we enjoy it. Some of the teams however are not pleased with us and the scenarios that we run them through.
This year we had the team lose two of their members (team Captain being one) on the way to their original goal. First they had to deal with this totally unexpected accident short handed and then regroup and accomplish their original goal. The results were interesting and we were surprised they handled it pretty well. Some errors were made and lessons learned which is what the competion is all about. Next year we will have a new and different scenario. The competion is a big event for the mines here and a good day for every one in town.
The day is capped off with the Awards dinner and as usual it was very nice. I had to leave early before all the awards were given out as I had an Eskimo roll session to go and help with at the local pool. The session was fun and ran smoothly with most of the students getting a roll or very close to it. We are back outside now and the rest of the rolling this year will be done on lakes and rivers, much cooler than the pool.
We are having a really cool June and this means the water probably won't get all that warm this year unless things change soon.
Our Annual Sociable is scheduled for the 3,4 and 5th of July but if this keeps up the river will be to cold to really have any fun. We may reschedule until the end of July when we usually have it. I will talk it over with the group and see what they think.
We had changed the date from the end of July to be part of Yellowknifes Offical 75th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration. There will be a large number of of folks returning to town for this and many visitors and we thought the extra company might be nice at the river.
