Welcome to my Blog, enjoy your stay!
Today was a special and different kind of day and there was much to do. Two years ago we lost our friend Dewaine to a massive heart attack and I spend part of my day visiting his grave site. Last year I went to visit and discovered that his tombstone had been stolen and this is not a pleasant thing.
I would sincerely like to thank the crew from Proform Concrete forn the genonerous effort on Dewaines behalf. Proform comes every year to Yellowknife and their chosen watering hole is Harleys Hardrock Saloon and dewaine was the matainence man there for years.
When they heard about what happened they went to his grave formed and poured a beautiful concrete cap with a raised section and firmly embedded the new marker and a memorial plauqe. Today was the first time I saw the job that they did and it is impressive, Dewaine would be proud if he wasn't lying underneath it. This was an incredibilly generous jesture and should I ever need conctrete poured I won't be calling anyone else.
On a brighter note today the Owner of Harleys is having his birthday. I wish Chris and Tess and baby Madison long life and happiness, these are very nice folks that treat me very well and I appreciate them very much.
Theweather was warm and looking like rain all day but we recieved just some light showers. I managed to knock 12,000 steps off of my TCT virtual hike and got a great bike ride in.
Tomorrow morning I am taking part in the Mine Rescue competetion and will be the scence management judge for the First Aid scenarios. There are 3 teams competing this year and the event will take about 3 hours to run our section of it.
Last evening our CERTNWT Team met as usual and hammered out the finer points of the mine rescue Scenario that we will be setting up at dawn. Should make for an interesting morning. We can't talk about any of this yet as the teams could very well be reading this but tomorrow I will have some interesting things to say about the competetion I hope. Cheers and thanks for stoping by. Greg
